L’Origine is Feï’s microbiotic food supplement, associated with the In & Out Ritual. Its formula brings together three microbiotic strains, fructooligosaccharide-type fibres and vitamins C and B2. Presented as orodispersible sticks, it completes the Feï method with a nutritional approach, distinct from the products applied to the skin.

To understand its place, let us start with the link that raises so many questions: the one between the gut and the skin.

What is the gut-skin axis?

The gut-skin axis refers to the interactions between the intestinal environment and the skin, notably through immune and metabolic pathways. Researchers are studying the role of the gut microbiota, of diet and of the molecules produced by micro-organisms in these exchanges. This field helps us consider the skin as part of a larger whole. It does not mean that every imperfection comes from the gut, nor that supplementation produces the same result in everyone. General research on this axis does not constitute proof of the efficacy of any particular supplement.

The gut microbiota and the skin microbiota also occupy two different environments. Taking a supplement by mouth and applying a product to the face are not equivalent gestures.

Probiotics, prebiotics, microbiotics: how to tell them apart?

In the scientific sense, probiotics are live micro-organisms that confer a benefit on the host when administered in adequate amounts. An observed result depends in particular on the strain studied, the dose and the context of use.

Prebiotics are substrates that are selectively utilised by host micro-organisms and associated with a health benefit. Some fibres belong to this category; not all fibres, however, are prebiotics.

The term microbiotic places a product in the world of the microbiota. It is not enough to identify its composition or to demonstrate an effect. To choose, it is more useful to read the strains, the quantities, the nutrients and the directions for use.

What does Feï’s L’Origine contain?

Feï’s formulation sheet lists the following amounts per stick:

  • Vitamin C
80 mg — 100% of the reference intake.
  • Vitamin B2
0.21 mg — 15% of the reference intake.
  • Probiotics
4 × 10⁹ CFU in total: Lactobacillus helveticus Rosell®-52, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG, Bifidobacterium longum Rosell®-175.
  • Fructooligosaccharides
    500 mg of prebiotic fibres.
  • Flavour
    Natural orange flavour.

The three strains listed are Lactobacillus helveticus Rosell®-52, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG and Bifidobacterium longum Rosell®-175. The formula also contains a natural orange flavour.

CFUs, or colony-forming units, express a quantity of viable micro-organisms measured under defined conditions. A higher number does not, on its own, allow you to conclude that a product is more suitable or more effective.

What is the role of vitamins C and B2?

Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin. Riboflavin, or vitamin B2, contributes to the maintenance of normal skin. Both vitamins also contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. These roles correspond to nutrition and health claims regulated at European level.

These nutritional functions do not mean that supplementation erases wrinkles or treats imperfections. They help explain what the vitamins bring to the formula, in addition to dietary intake.

How do you take L’Origine?

Feï’s directions recommend one stick a day, with a meal, directly in the mouth, as part of a renewable 30-day programme. The orodispersible format is designed to be taken without any preparation.

Follow the instructions on the packaging and do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Store the product in a cool, dry place below 25 °C, out of the reach of young children. It contains sweeteners: excessive consumption may have laxative effects.

L’Origine is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding without the advice of a healthcare professional. If you have an illness, are undergoing treatment or are immunocompromised, seek advice before using a supplement containing micro-organisms. A food supplement does not replace a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle.

What place does it have in the Feï method?

The Feï method brings together three gestures that complement one another in use: L’Essentiel to cleanse, L’Élixir for nourishing care and L’Origine for the nutritional dimension.

This organisation gives the In & Out Ritual a concrete meaning. Each product keeps its own function. Combining the three does not allow any additional clinical efficacy to be inferred without a specific study of that combination.
